In Focus: Images of Earth From Above
Yesterday was Earth Day, a time set aside to increase awareness of the natural environment and the impact of our collective actions. In honor of Earth Day, gathered here is a collection of scenes of our home planet from above, from vantage points we don’t see in everyday life. These scenes help show the Earth as a larger system and demonstrate the extent to which human activity has affected it.

Ive shot a number of projects on the newer Sony FS100. The first time using it i didn’t care for it. Its definitely weird. A little modular box thing.

It doesn’t help the ergonomics problem of the smaller HD cameras these days. In fact, its almost more awkward to shoot with in some situations than the DSLRs.
BUT, dang it looks good.
No way around it. To me, its very noticeable. That Super 35 caught my attention the first time i learned about what sony was doing with it at NAB.
And NOW… the thing that might tip it per into worth investing in… a Canon EF mount.

I hope this turns out to be what it claims!

I still haven’t shot with the amazing X100, maybe because its 1400 bucks… but i really want to.
This new “next-in-line form Fuji looks even better because of lens options.
This old range finder style just seems fun to shoot with.
But ever since I’ve upgraded to the 4s, i find myself shoot ALOT more with it just day to day. Im not sure anything can ever beat for fun-factor and convenience.

You can never get enough speed when it comes to flash storage. Lexar appears to think the same way, because it’s introduced a new series of CF cards that pack a whole load of impressive numbers. Boasting 150MB per second read speeds and tested to capture streams at up to 20MB per second, it’s sounding like a portable videographer’s dream. The cards will be out in February, arriving in sizes 16GB ($170), 32GB ($300), 64GB ($530) and 128GB ($890). via Engadget
Does this even matter after a certain point? My 5d2’s buffer limits the write speed to how fast it can process. So 890 is a little excessive to me.
However, Ive been testing some hacked firmware from (AJ)Magic Lantern which allows to push the bit-rate up to an awesome 77mb/sec. But still the cams buffer bogs that down. Thoughts?

There is no such thing as social media…
Siri (or something similar) is about to completely dismantle the TV experience and industry that we’ve known for the past 6 decades.

Invest an hour and watch this keynote by Gary Vaynerchuck, author of Thank you Economy, and Crush it on the current climate of business and the power of social media.
My big takeaway is that we are on the cusp of an era where one-on-one interaction with our audience is the game changer.
Business is moving back to the way our grandparents did it. Where the butcher knows you and your kids and knows how you like your steak. There’s an emotional engagement and a long term relationship because of it.
I got tired of renting so I just purchased a 5d mark II and 3 lenses. That plus this video are making the C300 more and more attractive.
Cant wait to get my hands on it at NAB in April.
Saw this on doobybrain. Totally blows me away… Ive yet to try proper time-lapse. Maybe because of the time it takes or the right subject and visuals worthy of making the time investment. Every time I see a great one like this though, it inspires me to do it. I might try to come up with something for 2012.
